Notice anything different? Actually, there’s several things that have changed, but let’s focus on only one of them: Perl Grey’s new finish. Out of a concern for the health of the planet and also the personal health of those who render her designs in pewter, Perl Grey has developed an entirely new finishing process for each piece.
The old finish involved a blackening agent that, sadly, is highly toxic, even though the finished pieces are chemically inert and therefore quite safe. Now, instead of using a blackening agent, Perl Grey treats each pieces to a bath of purest quartz sand. The result? Pure beauty – each sand-rubbed pewter jewel takes on a nearly platinum finish, reflecting light and showcasing the clean, wonderful lines of each design. We simply love this new look and doubly love it that it eliminates a toxic agent from Perl Grey’s jewelry making process. Truly, this is win-win at it’s best.
There’s other new things afoot, too, including many more new designs, already underway to us. You’ll find pieces with the new finish here and there among our stock of old style pieces. And more are coming. Many, many more, here.
