Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world, in the Himalaya range, and is a 4 sided pyramid. This simple, yet interesting pattern, greatly resembles a peak like this. It isn’t 4 sided; but it does gradually climb in even increments to the peak, gathering all of the ribbed lines together at the top.

The pattern uses slipped stitches to make the ribs larger and protrude out more from the reverse stockinette stitch hat.
